Only companies which are officially registered with the National Tourist Authority can request certification as a "Clean and Safe" establishment. They need to submit a Declaration of Commitment and implement an internal protocol which ensures the necessary hygiene measures are taken to avoid risk of contagion and which guarantees safe procedures for the operation of tourist activities. Turismo de Portugal will carry out audits of establishments that join this initiative. The request for the stamp is free and optional. It is valid for 1 year.
The intend is also to inform companies on the hygiene requirements and cleaning measures in order to ensure the safety, according to the recommendations of the Directorate-General for Health, as well as promoting Portugal as a safe destination.
