If too cold, wear socks in them. The trick is to not put on your socks too tight. Do this only inside your house.
12 ways to create a holiday feeling at home
Corona can make us angry, sad, and even heartbroken when we loose someone near to us. These are difficult times. Being single, life can get very lonely in quarantine while not being single can also mean you get stressed living so close together with your loved ones. Both situations have advantages and disadvantages. The intention of this blog is to put a smile on everyone’s face.
Home can be a nice, fun place, whether you are together or alone. Aside from reading a book, doing a home work-out on your mat or cooking an exotic meal, there are many more things we can do. Not having to spend hours stuck in traffic gives us more free time which we can use to be creative and share our smile with the people who live with us, and even with others through social media.
Here are 12 tips which will help create a holiday feeling in times of lockdown.
1. Wear your flipflops
2. Grab a fair trade pineapple
3. Prepare for your next trip.
We may not be able to travel now but we can already dream while getting ready to go and explore a new destination as soon as we can. Pack your backpack, run up and down the stairs with it for about 20 times. Is it hard? Have a good look at what you packed: do you really need all these things? Leave out what you can and repeat the exercise on the stairs. You will not only have to carry less weight on your next holiday but you will also be fit.
4. Rub sun tan lotion under your nose
Relax on a beach towel, play a typical holiday song, rub sun tan lotion under your nose, close your eyes, breathe deeply and smell that summer vibe. You can also read one of the books we proposed in our blogs Traveling Minds:

5. Skyperitif with friends
No matter if your prefer to use Skype, Facetime or Messenger video, it is always fun to have an aperitif and catch up with friends on a Friday evening, just like you would do in a restaurant or bar at the beginning of the weekend. Put your drinks and finger food ready and …Skype!
Or why not play a game together on a Sunday afternoon, like Pictionary? Make sure to stay within camera reach.
6. Bird spotting at home
You can do this in your garden or from the window of your house. If you have them, grab your binoculars and look up into the sky!
7. Make a popular local dish
Make a dish which is popular at your next destination. You can try some of our example recipes for Costa Rica and Portugal:

8. Play a language game
9. Make a giant Mojito
After all that action, relax with a giant Mojito! But always drink wisely. Hospitals are already full. So share with your loved ones or for one normal glass, fill it as follows:
- Half a lime, cut into pieces
- A tablespoon of cane sugar and 1 cl sugar syrup
- About ten leaves of mint
- Stamp with a muddler (not more than 6 to 7 times because otherwise the lime will make it too bitter)
- Add 5 to 6 cl rum
- Fill your glass completely with crushed ice
- Add sparkling water until full
- Stir & garnish with a sprig of mint and a wedge of lime
Cheers!!
10. Camp inside your house or in the garden
11. Learn to dive
Study for your theoretical diving exam so once the lockdown is lifted, you can get started immediately. If you already have a diving license, you can study for a more advanced degree.
Can you imagine observing the colorful underwater world on your next holiday? Or maybe you would even like to contribute and help clean those coral reefs?
12. Be creative!
If you do not have a garden, this does not mean you cannot have plants and flowers. Think about how you can be creative. Do you have stuff laying around which you could give a second life?
